Employment - Implementation of TUPE Amendments Delayed
The employment law arena has been awaiting the introduction of the amendments to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 (TUPE), as published in a consultation paper by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTi) in March 2005.
It was expected that the amended Regulations would be laid before Parliament during this summer, and come into force on 1 October 2005.
However, the DTi has now been forced to delay the implementation of the amended TUPE Regulations as a result of the substantial level of feedback and opposition to its consultation exercise.
The amended TUPE Regulations are now likely to be laid before Parliament later this year, and are expected to come into force in April 2006.
